Introduction

Complete Solutions Beyond Countertops

A crack running out from the sink cutout. A stain that soaked in before anyone noticed. An opening that is now half an inch too narrow for the new range. Those are repairs, and the difference between repairing and replacing is usually thousands of dollars.

Granite Depot repairs granite, quartz, marble and quartzite surfaces across East Tennessee, including countertops we did not install. We assess the damage and determine the right repair before any work starts, so you know what you are dealing with before you commit to anything.

Repair Services Offered

  • Stain Removal
  • Crack and Sink Run repair
  • Remove and reinstall existing countertops
  • Resize existing countertops to fit larger appliances

One thing worth knowing before you call. Veins, pits and fissures are natural characteristics of stone, not defects. A fissure follows the stone’s structure. A crack is damage. If you are not sure which you are looking at, we will tell you.

“I had Granite Depot install new stone countertops and backsplash in my kitchen. Becca was wonderful through the process – the crew was efficient and completed the project in two working days – less than a week total. The countertops beautiful and everyone who visits loves to explore the crystalline structure of the stone.”

“Granite Depot is a phenomenal company! They go above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy, even if it means working in the snow because of our timeline. Rachel was our contact and she was extremely pleasant, meticulous and really stayed on top of the entire process. The installers did a fantastic job and sent pictures of their work afterward. I highly recommend Granite Depot.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a cracked granite countertop be repaired?

Often, yes. It depends on where the crack is, whether the piece has separated or moved, and what caused it. Cracks around sink and cooktop cutouts are the most common because those are the weakest points. We assess before quoting rather than pricing from a description.

Frequently. Natural stone is porous, so oil, wine and grease can soak in, particularly where the sealer has worn. The right method depends on what caused the stain and how long it sat, so tell us both when you call.

A stain is something absorbed into the stone. An etch is surface damage caused by an acidic substance, most common on marble, and it usually looks like a dull patch rather than a dark one. They need completely different treatments, so identifying which you have comes first.

No. Veins, pits, fissures and natural fractures are inherent characteristics of natural stone and are not considered defects. A fissure is a natural feature that follows the stone’s structure. A crack is damage. If you can’t tell which you’re looking at, send a photo.

Yes. If you’re painting or replacing cabinets, redoing the flooring, or doing structural work, existing tops can often be removed and reinstalled rather than replaced. It needs proper handling, since stone that’s lifted carelessly cracks on the way out.

Often we can recut the existing stone rather than replace the run. Send us the appliance specifications, ideally before you buy, so we can tell you whether the cut is feasible.

Yes. You don’t need to have purchased from us.

Quartz is a resin-bound product and behaves differently from natural stone, so field repair options are more limited than they are on granite. We’ll tell you honestly what’s realistic for your specific damage rather than promising an invisible fix.

Most repairs are completed on site in a single visit. Work that needs shop equipment takes longer, and we’ll tell you the timeline when we assess.

Repair is almost always the cheaper option when it’s viable. Where it isn’t, we’ll tell you rather than take the job, because a repair you notice every day is not a repair worth paying for.

Estimates are free. Send photos first if you can, since that often answers the question without anyone driving out.

Stop using the area, especially if it’s near a sink where weight and water are involved, and don’t put anything heavy on the piece. Take a photo of the full section as well as a close-up, and call us.
