Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a stone bathroom vanity top cost in East Tennessee?
Considerably less than a kitchen, because vanities use a fraction of the stone. Price depends on material, size, thickness and sink configuration. If you’re flexible on colour, remnant stone brings the cost down further. Estimates are free.
What is a remnant, and can I use one for my vanity?
A remnant is offcut stone left over from a larger job. Too small for a kitchen, often exactly right for a vanity. Same material, lower price, limited selection. Worth asking what’s on the rack when you visit.
What is the best countertop material for a bathroom?
Quartz for most people, since it’s non-porous and never needs sealing. Granite for range and value. Marble works far better in a bathroom than a kitchen, with the caveat that cosmetics can etch it.
Can I use marble in a bathroom?
Yes, and it’s the classic vanity material. Just know that nail polish remover, whitening toothpaste and some hair products can etch it. Honed marble hides etching better than polished, and wiping spills rather than letting them sit goes a long way.
Do I need to have my sink before you measure?
Yes. We cut to your actual sink rather than to published dimensions, so it needs to be on site at template. The same applies to knowing your faucet configuration, since holes are drilled at fabrication.
What's the difference between undermount and vessel for a vanity?
An undermount sits below the stone with a polished visible cutout edge. A vessel sits on top as a bowl, so the top has only a drain opening and different faucet drilling. Vessels also add height, which matters on a taller vanity.
Will a double vanity have a seam?
Usually not. Most double vanities up to around six feet come out of a slab in one piece. Longer or unusually shaped tops may need a seam, which we plan and show you before fabrication.
Should my vanity top be 2cm or 3cm?
Two centimetre works well for most vanities, since spans are short and loading is light, and it costs less. Three centimetre gives a heavier look. A laminated or mitered edge on 2cm gives the thicker appearance without the full material cost.
Can you replace a cultured marble vanity top?
Yes. Because the bowl is moulded into a cultured marble top, replacing it means a new sink too. Expect some drywall touch-up behind the old splash, which is normal on this kind of replacement.
Do I need a backsplash on my vanity?
Not necessarily, but consider side splashes where the top meets a wall. They stop water running down the drywall, they’re inexpensive to add during fabrication, and they’re the detail people most often wish they’d included.
Do you do shower surrounds as well?
Yes, as a separate service. Stone shower surrounds replace tile with full-height slab panels and far less grout. See our shower surrounds page for how that works.
How long does a bathroom vanity installation take?
Most projects template within 48 hours of slab selection and install seven to ten days later. Installation itself is usually a few hours for a single vanity, with plumbing reconnected afterward once adhesive has cured.
